Re: [Yasmin_discussions] Art/Sci Collab Presentation and Documentation

Dear colleagues...

Recalling Jennifer words 'around research process/methodology' (…) and
answering Roger's question on 'how to produce hybrids'…

I'm afraid we could fall in a reductionist trap if we believe that, an
educational program that offers the opportunity to mix in its curricula a
range of disciplines from different knowledge areas, is the way to produce
'hybrids' in the sense I mentioned in my short reflection. One must
mastering how to traverse, how to make the connections, crossing the
discipline's, sometimes blurred, sometimes well delineated, borders. If we
consider the knowledge process from a systemic perspective, the system can
jump to a more complex level of organization when the ones (because I
cannot say the 'one' – an individual researcher, a student…) involved in a
knowledge process, master the 'traversing' – the 'hybrids' are emergences.
How about a way to stimulate a system in being intentional? How about a way
to 'inspire' a knowledge system in having as one of its organizational
objectives the one of giving rise of series of hybrids as emergences? I
don't think that the way is, if we take disciplines as 'bubbles of
knowledge', to give the ones involved/participating in these systems the
opportunity to shift from one bubble to another. The focus must be in the
connections, the bridges, considering, nevertheless, that they are not
linear, one way, like plug-in wires. To produce hybrids we must find ways
to give the ones involved in knowledge processes the opportunity of
exploring the disciplines' permeable membranes, the borders zones and to
collect and connect the tales they found in this challenging adventure.
Then, we have* "a* *call for the Methodologies of the In-Between"*.

Kind regards,

Clarissa Ribeiro
